During my procrastination time this past weekend, I watched some performances of one of my favorite bands, The Neighbourhood. The Neighbourhood is an American Rock band that began in Los Angeles, CA in 2011. One of their key trademarks is that everything they have, whether it’s a music video, a live broadcast of their performance at KROQ’s Weenie Roast, or pictures from a photo shoot, it must be in black and white! On Youtube, I watched a live performance of their new song “Jealou$y” on March 14, 2014 at The Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri. I’m not sure if the lighting designer for this concert had this in mind, but the lighting design worked well with the black and white filter that the videographer put on the recording. It created fantastic silhouettes and shades that worked fantastically with their well-known style and image and the vibe of the song as well. I later watched videos of similar performances. However, this time the videos were in color. I found that the lighting was still great and provided the same effect!
I included a picture of the performance with the black and white filter. I'm sorry it is blurry.
