Blog 4: The Struggle is Real..

For the past 2 weeks, I have been working on the E-Hang crew for Nickel Mines. It has been a very educational experience. However, there was a moment of confusion where I was not sure how we were going to focus the upstage lights because of the set that was installed. The electric could not be reached by Genie or ladder! Brady reintroduced to something that I completely forgot about, bounce focusing. I did this before with Kristin on Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson when it came to focusing the electric in front of the proscenium. I completely forgot how much of a pain in the booty bounce focusing is. You bring in the electric, make adjustments, then fly it back out and see how it looks. If it is right you do the same thing to the rest of the lights. However, if it is wrong you have to keep doing it on that same fixture until you get it exactly how you like it. This can make focusing harder; considering the fact that there are possibilities of having to adjust the spike length on some of your electrics, which in your focusing being off. I’m happy that most of our instruments were able to be focused using the Genie or a ladder. It definitely made our job easier.
